Amanda Horvath

Amanda Horvath was born in Manchester and now lives in the hills of the Peak District with her husband.
Her home is close to the woods and moors and she finds a wealth of inspiration for her paintings of nature

and peaceful forest places. Amanda has been drawing and painting since early childhood and having art in
her life is second nature. After achieving a B A Hons (first class) in fine art at Sheffield Hallam University
Amanda lectured in painting and printmaking. Now working full time as an artist from her studio her work is
full of colour, texture and contrast, with an emphasis on delicate light effects, dramatic shadows and creating
a peaceful mood.
As well as being dedicated to her work as an artist Amanda has a busy family life regularly seeing her two
grown up children and twin granddaughters who she loves to spend time with.
The starting point for Amanda's paintings is walking in the woods making notes and taking photographs to
work from in the studio. She works intuitively first with a brush and then impasto techniques layer on layer
applied with a palette knife. Influenced by the optical mixing techniques of the impressionists she continues
working until the work reaches a natural conclusion. The result is a contemporary painting full of optimism
and joy. Amanda's greatest sense of reward comes when people say they absolutely love their painting and
her work has found homes with private collectors worldwide
